I’ve gone back and forth about whether to write this blog post.
Not because I didn’t know what to say—but because it’s painful to speak about something so personal, so raw, and so close to my identity.
A few weeks ago, a podcast called Styx and Bones released a series of episodes about me and my book, Secrets of Greek Mysticism. What was framed as “critique” quickly crossed into something much deeper and more unsettling. I found myself publicly framed as dangerous, illegitimate, and untrustworthy—not because of harm I’ve caused, but because I dared to speak about a living ancestral religion I was born into.
What hurt the most wasn’t disagreement. I welcome discussion.
It was the attempt to disqualify my voice altogether.
As a native Greek priest, Hellenism isn’t an aesthetic or an interest for me. It’s my inheritance. It’s the land I come from, the gods I grew up with, the traditions that shaped my sense of belonging long before I ever wrote a book or built a platform. And suddenly, I was watching outsiders claim the authority to decide whether my voice was “acceptable” or “safe” enough to be heard.
I won’t pretend this didn’t shake me. It did.
But it also clarified something important.
This isn’t just about me or one book. It’s about a much larger pattern—how native voices within living ancestral religions are silenced, policed, or pushed aside when they don’t fit modern academic or moral frameworks.
That’s why I recorded a new podcast episode:
“They Tried to Silence Me: How Outsiders Police Native Voices in Living Ancestral Traditions.”
In this episode, I share the full story—honestly, calmly, and from the heart. I talk about what happened, why it matters, and why protecting living traditions means protecting the voices of those who inherit them. This isn’t about exclusion. It’s about dignity, respect, and the right to speak for what is ours.
If you’ve ever felt unheard, dismissed, or told you didn’t belong in something that mattered deeply to you, I think this episode will resonate.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for listening. And thank you for standing with me—not just as a supporter of my work, but as someone who believes that living traditions deserve living voices.
