Did you know that the oldest perfume in the world was found in Cyprus? I certainly didn’t, and I am from Cyprus! 🤣
According to the archeologists who discovered the perfume in Pyrgos, Limassol, it dates to 2000 BC and it has a combination of various essential oils including lavender, bay, rosemary, and pine or coriander.
I recently visited the Cyprus Perfumery Theme Park, which is a research center recreating ancient perfumes and perfumery methods. In fact, they used reverse DNA methods to recreate the oldest perfume in the world (it’s now trademarked and available for sale, of course) and showcase the creation process to the public.
