I remember when I was around 17 years old and my brother said he wanted to paint his room bright orange. At the time, I was just beginning my spiritual journey, and Feng Shui was the first modality I delved into. Naturally, I had an opinion about it.
“Don’t do this. You won’t be able to sleep. Orange is a fire, yang color, and the energy won’t let you rest,” I implored him and my mum, but his stubbornness prevailed.
A few weeks later, after the room was painted a super-bright, tangerine orange, I noticed my brother coming out of his room at night to sleep on the couch.
“I told you so!” I sneered at him one night. He was silent; he knew I was right.
While I already understood the power of colors in affecting our mood and creating change in our homes and lives, in that moment, I experienced it firsthand. Since then, I’ve used color mindfully to harmonize my living space and manifest my desires.
In episode 162 of The Lit Up Lightworker Podcast, I talk with Feng Shui teachers and authors of Mindful Living, Anjie Cho and Laura Morris, about the transformative qualities of colors.
Specifically, in this episode, you’ll learn:
- How to choose suitable colors for different rooms based on function and orientation
- The meanings and symbolism of common colors
- What colors to avoid or use sparingly
- Ways of navigating cultural or regional variations in color meanings
