My spiritual beliefs and practices have changed dramatically over the years…
Growing up Orthodox Christian, I spent my childhood obsessing over Christianity – I attended Sunday service religiously, memorized bible verses, and went to Christian camp every single summer. In a school test on Religious Knowledge (which was practically just about Christianity), I got 105%!
My path took an unexpected turn when I felt shamed and rejected by the Christian church after realizing I was gay. It was then that I gave myself permission to explore my spirituality and find a new path.
My exploration took me on a wild ride. Signing up for bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Metaphysical Sciences, I explored different religions and spiritual traditions. I practiced witchcraft for a while, got into Buddhism for a couple of years, and eventually ended up creating my own blend of a religion, what’s commonly known as being a New Ager.
Five years ago, my spiritual journey led me down a path of rekindling my connection to my ancestral religion, and I became a priest to Hellenic Polytheism (AKA Greek Paganism).
What my 15+ year exploration in religion and spirituality has helped me realize is that there is no one path to Source. We’re all unique individuals who require an equally unique and personalized path to the creator.
In the latest episode of The Lit Up Lightworker Podcast, I chat to the New Age Hipster Vix Maxwell, about the new New Age, and what it means to find your personalized connection to the divine.
Specifically, in this episode you’ll learn:
- What is the new New Age
- The difference between cultural appropriation and appreciation
- Ways of using oracle and tarot cards in your practice
- How to deal with judgement in the spiritual community
- How to accept your changing spiritual beliefs
Watch the episode to learn how to create a spiritual path that’s as unique as you are.
One of my goals for 2026 is to strengthen my boundaries around the people I interact with.
I have big dreams on many fronts, and I want to spend my time and energy working toward them — not wasting it on people who drain me, blur my boundaries, or try to take advantage of my sensitivity.
While I was guiding the Energy Reset workshop last week (you can still get the replay — it’s not too late to do it), I had a bit of a wake-up call myself. As I scanned my energy field, I realised I still had a number of energetic cords from low-vibe people attached to several of my chakras.
As I dug deeper, I uncovered something uncomfortable but important.
A part of me was resisting clearing those cords… because being needed made me feel good about myself.
That was a tough lesson to sit with. I felt shame at first — and then compassion. Once I owned it, I was able to go through the process of releasing those cords properly and reclaiming my energy.
It reminded me how many toxic energy attachments we carry without realising it — simply because of habits, beliefs, or unconscious emotional rewards. The deeper we go into our inner world, the more we scan our energy field and notice our triggers and defaults, the more clearly we can identify what needs to be cleared — and what needs to be protected.
With that in mind, here are the top 3 toxic energy attachments I believe are especially important to protect yourself from in 2026:
1. Toxic Cords of Attachment
These are energetic cords connecting you to people, places, beliefs, or past experiences. They become toxic when the relationship is draining, codependent, manipulative, or rooted in obligation rather than alignment.
What makes these cords tricky is that we often choose them — unconsciously. We stay connected because helping, fixing, or being needed meets a hidden emotional need. Over time, these cords drain our vitality and keep us stuck in patterns that no longer serve us.
2. Psychic Daggers (Psychic Attack)
Psychic daggers are forms of psychic attack — intense waves of negative energy directed at you consciously or unconsciously, often fueled by jealousy, resentment, anger, or projection.
These attacks don’t require physical proximity or even personal interaction. Energy travels across time and space. You might experience sudden fatigue, emotional heaviness, anxiety, or physical discomfort after an interaction — or seemingly out of nowhere.
Learning how to recognise and deflect psychic daggers is essential if you’re visible, sensitive, or doing meaningful work in the world.
3. Collective Thought Forms
Collective thought forms are energetic clouds created by large numbers of people repeatedly thinking and feeling the same emotions over time — fear, scarcity, shame, doom, or hopelessness.
When your vibration drops for a sustained period, you can hook into these collective fields and start receiving amplified thoughts and emotions that don’t actually originate from you. This is why fear and negativity can feel contagious — especially online and in the media.
The key isn’t to avoid the world, but to learn how to disconnect from negative collective thought forms and consciously connect to supportive ones.
